All files that are uploaded via additor® are stored on the server and can be managed via the Mediacenter. In addition to the media used on the website, additional files can also be stored for future use. By clicking on the respective icon the authorized users are shown all the file information.

mediacenter
In the header on the left a button to create new files for the Mediacenter and on the right is the direct access to the help. On the left is a column for searching or editing files. By clicking on the respective button, the corresponding setting options are opened. To the right is an area where all the media matching the search criteria are listed.

Create/ edit/ delete files

Create:
To upload a file, click the "Create new file" button at the top of the header. The configuration options in the left column of the "Edit file" tab automatically opens. Here the file can be dragged per "Drag & Drop", or via the button "Select File".
You can use GIF, JPG and PNG images on your website - if possible, it is recommended to use JPGs, since these have a comparatively small file size.

Edit:
As soon as a file is displayed, you will see the file information in the "Details" field, as well as the pages on which the file is used. In addition, descriptions, copyrights, and tags can be added to the  options to help you to find files later.
If the original image is either marked with the checkbox "Visible for other editors", or is used elsewhere, a copy of the edited file is created in the case of processing the image (e.g., scaling).
In all other cases, changes are made directly to the original file (in the Mediacenter).

Delete:

A file is automatically removed from the Mediacenter as soon as it is used nowhere else. If this automatic deletion is to be avoided, the checkbox "Visible for other editors" has to be activated.

Determine access rights:
For each uploaded file, you can specify whether it can be used by other editors.
Files, e.g. in an image entry, do not initially get the mark that they can be used by other editors, they are "private".
Files that are uploaded directly to the Mediacenter are marked as being used by other editors. The marking can be changed later.

Search files

The "Find file" tab above the left column helps you to retrieve files in the Mediacenter or to filter out certain parts from the total number of media.

It can be searched by search term. If only the beginning of the name is known, please mark the rest of the word with *, e.g. "London" with Lon *. PLEASE NOTE:
It is a word search, i. If you are looking for a file called "the-museum", the filename extension with * does not work in the immediate vicinity of the hyphen (ie "the*" and "the-*" are not found, but the "-m*" will be found).

On the other hand, you can search by selecting the type of data (picture, audio, etc.) or by the file extension of the medium. You can also specify a minimum size. Note the following notation:
> / <(number of pixels).
It is therefore searched for search results which are either larger (>), smaller (<) or equal (no character) of the specified number of pixels.

Example: My picture should be wider than 200 pixels, so I enter in the input field "Width": >200.

The same principle also applies to the duration and the file size, the duration in seconds and the file size in bytes.

A further filter option is the usage rights of the media.

  • My "private" files: These files were uploaded by me but not shared with other editors. Web or mediacenter administrators, however, have the right to share files for all users, if they think they should be used by all users.
  • My files, usable by others: All files that have been uploaded and used by others.
  • Usable files of other users: files of other users, which have been released for use.
  • "Private" files of other users: These files are only accessible if you are a web or media administrator. If a file is considered useful to other users, it can be shared with all editors.

You can also specify tag categories, update date, and creation date as a filtering option.

Expiration of unused files

"Private" files, ie files that do not have the "Usable for all editors" mark, automatically expire when they are not used on any page.
If, e.g. a picture entry is deleted, the picture will disappear the following night if it is not marked in the Mediacenter as visible for other editors.
